5GI Map Gut Microbiome Test for Root-Cause Gut Health Insights in Singapore

Your gut sits at the centre of almost everything: digestion, immunity, hormones, mood, energy, skin, even sleep. When the microbial balance is off, the symptoms often spread far beyond the digestive tract, showing up as IBS, eczema, autoimmune flares, brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, and stubborn weight. Standard stool tests only check for a handful of obvious pathogens and miss the subtler imbalances that quietly drive chronic illness for years.

At NutraNourish, we use the GI-MAP Test (Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus), the most comprehensive DNA-based gut microbiome test available. Using quantitative PCR (qPCR) technology, the GI-MAP detects bacterial, parasitic, fungal, and viral DNA directly from a single at-home stool sample, identifying pathogens, opportunistic organisms, beneficial bacteria, inflammation markers, immune function, and intestinal barrier integrity in a single panel. The test is processed by Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory in the USA (the lab that developed the GI-MAP), and your report is interpreted by Dr. Menka Gupta and turned into a personalised gut reset program addressing the root cause, not just the symptoms.

Find out exactly what is living in your gut.

Get a complete DNA-based map of your gut microbiome including pathogens, beneficial bacteria, and intestinal health markers, interpreted by Dr. Menka Gupta.

What is a GI-MAP Test?

The GI-MAP short for Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus is the very comprehensive stool test currently available, using DNA-based qPCR (quantitative polymerase chain reaction) technology to give you a complete picture of what’s actually living in your gut. The GI-MAP detects bacterial, parasitic, fungal, and viral DNA directly meaning it picks up pathogens and imbalances that traditional tests routinely miss.

This matters because chronic health issues IBS, eczema, autoimmune flares, brain fog, fatigue, hormonal imbalance traces back to a imbalances in your gut ecosystem. Standard stool tests give a partial picture. GI-MAP gives you the full picture: pathogens, opportunistic organisms, beneficial bacteria, inflammation markers, immune function markers, and intestinal barrier integrity all in a single test.

GI-MAP Test Procedure

The GI-MAP test is a simple, non-invasive at-home stool test, a single sample collection that is then sent to the Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory in the US for DNA-based analysis. The four-stage process below covers everything from preparation through to results.

How Long Does a GI-MAP Test Take?

01

Before the Test

Dietary preparation: Left to the discretion of your practitioner. For accurate digestion / fat malabsorption markers (Elastase-1, Steatocrit), some clinicians recommend consuming 70–100 grams of fat daily for three consecutive days before sample collection.

Medications and supplements: Do not start, stop, or change antibiotics, oral steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs, digestive enzymes, or biofilm disruptors without first consulting a doctor.

2 Weeks Prior: Stop taking spore-forming and soil-based probiotics; anti-parasitic, anti-fungal, and antibacterial agents (non-prescription); and NSAIDs (e.g., Advil, ibuprofen, naproxen).

2–3 Days Prior: Stop digestive support supplements (Betaine HCl, enzymes, gut-healing formulas, general probiotics); avoid aspirin for at least 2 days before collection.

Menstruation: Avoid collecting during menstruation. Keep a 3-day gap before or after your period to prevent false positives from blood traces.

Recent procedures: If you have had a colonoscopy in the last week, wait at least 7 days before sample collection. Recent gastrointestinal surgery may temporarily alter gut composition speak with Dr. Menka about timing.

Sample timing within the day: A first-morning sample is usually preferred but is not mandatory.

02

During the Test (Sample Collection)

The kit includes a collection container, collection paper, scoop, transport vial with preservative, and full instructions.

Collect a single stool sample using the provided materials, avoiding contact with urine or toilet water (the collection paper provided helps prevent this).

Use the scoop to transfer the required amount into the preservative-filled transport vial and seal tightly.

Label the vial and complete the requisition form included in the kit with your details and symptoms.

03

After the Test

The sample must be received by the lab within 10 days of collection.
