DUTCH Hormone Test for Comprehensive Hormonal Health Insights in Singapore

Hormonal imbalance is one of the most under-recognised drivers of chronic symptoms, especially for women juggling work, family, and life in Singapore. PMS, PMDD, painful periods, menopause symptoms, fertility issues, stubborn weight, anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, and sleep problems all trace back to how your body produces, metabolises, and clears hormones across each day. A single morning blood test cannot capture that picture, and most people leave their GP appointment with the same advice they came in with.

At NutraNourish, we use the DUTCH Test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones), the most thorough hormone panel currently available, to map your full hormonal landscape from the comfort of your home. Across four dried urine samples collected in a single day, the DUTCH Complete measures sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA) and their metabolites, the cortisol diurnal pattern and cortisol metabolism, melatonin, and key organic acid markers including B6, B12, glutathione, neurotransmitter metabolites, and oxidative stress. Each report is interpreted by Dr. Menka Gupta and turned into a personalised hormonal health program addressing the root cause, not just the symptoms.

Find out exactly what your hormones are doing.

Get a complete picture of your sex hormones, cortisol rhythm, and hormone metabolism backed by functional medicine, interpreted by Dr. Menka Gupta.

What is a DUTCH Test?

The DUTCH Test short for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones is the most thorough hormone test currently available. Rather than measuring a single blood draw at one moment in the day, the DUTCH test collects four dried urine samples across one day, capturing not just hormone levels but how those hormones are produced, metabolised, and cleared by your body across a full daily cycle.

This matters because hormones do not sit at a fixed level cortisol, for example, follows a daily rhythm that peaks in the morning and falls through the day. A single blood test cannot capture that rhythm. The DUTCH test can, and it also goes a step further: it measures hormone metabolites, the breakdown products that reveal how your body is actually processing each hormone. Two people can have identical estrogen levels on a blood test but completely different metabolite profiles, and it is the metabolite pattern that often explains why one person has symptoms and the other does not.

The DUTCH Complete panel measures:

Sex hormones and their metabolites

estrogen (estradiol, estriol, estrone), progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and the metabolic pathways through which each is processed

Cortisol rhythm and metabolism

free cortisol across four time points (the diurnal pattern), plus total cortisol metabolites, giving a complete view of adrenal function and stress response

Melatonin

your primary sleep hormone

Organic acid markers

nutritional indicators (B6, B12, glutathione), neurotransmitter metabolites, and oxidative stress markers

The test is processed by Precision Analytical, the US-based laboratory that developed the DUTCH platform. Results are interpreted by Dr. Menka and translated into a personalised functional medicine plan addressing not just hormone levels but the upstream drivers of imbalance stress, nutrient status, gut health, detoxification capacity, and lifestyle factors.

Step-by-Step Process

DUTCH Hormone Test Procedure

The DUTCH Complete Hormone Test is a simple, non-invasive at-home test that uses dried urine samples collected on filter paper. Four samples are taken at specific times over a single day to capture how your hormones rise and fall across a full daily cycle, something a single blood draw cannot do. There are some specific prep steps required to ensure accurate results, so please follow the instructions below carefully.

The DUTCH Hormone Test is performed at home over a single day. It includes:

How It Works

01

Before Collection

  • Schedule the right collection day. For menstruating women, the test is usually performed during the luteal phase of your menstrual cycle (typically between days 19 to 22 of a 28-day cycle), unless otherwise instructed.
  • For men, samples can be collected on any day.
  • Read all kit instructions carefully before starting.
  • Plan your 4 collection times for the day: first morning urine on waking, 2 hours after waking, around dinner time, and at bedtime.
  • Follow your normal sleep-wake schedule on collection day so the timed samples accurately reflect your daily hormone rhythm.
  • Make sure you have a clean, dry surface ready to lay the cards flat for drying after collection.

02

Collecting the Sample

  • Use the 4 dried urine collection cards (filter paper strips) provided in the DUTCH kit.
  • Collect your first sample first thing in the morning, immediately upon waking.
  • Collect your second sample 2 hours after waking.
  • Collect your third sample around dinner time.
  • Collect your fourth and final sample at bedtime, just before going to sleep.
  • Apply urine to each designated collection card exactly as instructed in the kit.
  • Label each card clearly with your name, date of birth, and the time of collection.

03

After Collection

  • Allow each collection card to air-dry completely before packing. Drying typically takes a minimum of 24 hours.
  • Do not seal or package the cards while they are still damp, since moisture can compromise sample integrity.
  • Once all 4 cards are fully dry, place them into the provided packaging.
  • Complete the requisition form included in the kit with all required details.
  • Store the sealed package at room temperature until you are ready to ship it out.

04

What Happens Next

  • Schedule a courier pick-up, we arrange shipping to Precision Analytical Lab in the USA.
  • The lab analyses your samples for sex hormones, cortisol patterns, melatonin, and organic acid markers.
  • Results typically take 3 to 4 weeks from the date the lab receives your samples.
  • Dr. Menka Gupta personally reviews your report and walks you through it in your 1-hour consultation.
  • Receive your personalised DUTCH Hormone Health Program covering nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle adjustments.

Your Complete Report

What Will A DUTCH Test Tell Me?

The DUTCH Complete Hormone Test gives you a deep, multi-layered view of your hormonal health from a single day of dried urine samples. Specifically, it tells you:

Sex hormone imbalances:identifies levels and patterns of oestrogen (estradiol, estriol, estrone), progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA, along with their metabolites, revealing imbalances such as oestrogen dominance and low progesterone that commonly cause PMS, irregular periods, and infertility.
Stress hormone imbalances:measures the full daily cortisol rhythm and adrenal output, identifying patterns linked to chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, and burnout that a single blood cortisol cannot detect.
Oestrogen metabolism through Phase 1 and Phase 2 detoxification:shows how efficiently your body breaks down and clears oestrogen, a critical insight for women with fibroids, painful or heavy periods, endometriosis, and oestrogen-sensitive cancer risk such as breast, cervical, and uterine cancer.
Melatonin levels:assesses your primary sleep hormone, helping identify root causes of insomnia, unrefreshing sleep, and disrupted sleep cycles.
Hormone metabolite patterns:measures the breakdown products of each hormone, revealing why two people with identical hormone levels can have completely different symptoms (the metabolite pattern often explains the symptom).
Daily hormone rhythms:captures how your hormones rise and fall across a full day, a level of detail that a single blood draw cannot provide.
Root causes behind common symptoms:clarifies the hormonal drivers of fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, anxiety, brain fog, depression, mood swings, fertility problems, and decreased libido.
Personalised intervention targets:if oestrogen metabolism issues are detected, your practitioner can recommend specific supplements and lifestyle changes to support oestrogen detoxification through the proper pathways, rather than guessing.
A non-invasive alternative to traditional blood testing:the DUTCH (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) test uses urine samples instead of blood, making it both more convenient and more comprehensive than standard hormone blood tests.

Here are some areas that Dutch test uncovers:

Estrogen (Estradiol, Estriol and Estrone); Progesterone and their metabolites; Testosterone and their metabolites; Diurnal Variations of Cortisol; Nutritional organic acids; Deficiencies of B6, B12, and glutathione; Neurotransmitter metabolites; Melatonin; Hormone metabolites (the breakdown products of hormones which can tell us how your body is effectively, or ineffectively using the hormone – this may be the cause of one’s hormone imbalance); Oxidative Stress (DNA damage).

The DUTCH hormone test requires urine samples, collected using a dried urine collection method. Samples are taken at specific times throughout the day to evaluate hormone levels, hormone metabolism, and daily hormone patterns.

The DUTCH Complete Hormone Test helps explore underlying hormone patterns that may be linked to a wide range of symptoms. It looks at how your body produces and processes key hormones, offering deeper insight than standard tests.

It may help investigate symptoms related to: Energy & mood Fatigue, stress, anxiety, low mood, brain fog; Sleep & recovery Poor sleep, lowered immunity, muscle or bone loss; Weight & metabolism Resistant weight gain or difficulty losing weight; Hair & skin Hair thinning or hair loss; Reproductive & sexual health Fertility concerns, PCOS, menopause symptoms, low libido, erectile dysfunction, pelvic pain; Menstrual & hormone-related symptoms PMS, painful periods, endometriosis, fibroids, breast tenderness, mood swings; Long-term hormone balance Estrogen-related health risk patterns.

By connecting symptoms with hormone patterns, the DUTCH test supports more personalised and targeted care.

Most supplements and medications do not need to be stopped before taking the DUTCH Test. The test is designed to reflect your body’s hormone patterns under normal, real-world conditions.

However, some hormones, medications, and supplements may influence results. Please consult your practitioner if you are taking: Oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy, corticosteroids, or other hormones; 5-HTP, Tryptophan, SAMe, Tyrosine, L-Dopa, DLPA, Mucuna, Quercetin, or St. John’s Wort.

In some cases, timing adjustments or temporary changes may be recommended based on DUTCH Test guidelines to ensure accurate results. Do not stop any medication or supplement without medical guidance. Your practitioner will help interpret your results in context and advise on any necessary preparation.

Collect your urine samples at the recommended times (morning, 2 hours after waking, afternoon, and before bed). Use the collection cards as instructed, allow each sample to fully dry, and avoid touching the urine spots. Wash your hands before handling the cards, complete all required samples, and return them promptly using the provided envelope. Following these steps helps ensure accurate results for your practitioner.

No, it doesn’t. No, it doesn’t test thyroid function, but it can help identify the root causes of thyroid hormone imbalances.
